Neuropsychological Evaluations

A thorough neuropsychological assessment provides accurate understanding of cognitive or behavioral challenges, diagnostic clarity, and support in planning your next steps.

Intervention Therapies

Cognitive remediation, also sometimes called executive function coaching or cognitive coaching, is a targeted therapy approach that aims to expand your or your child’s thinking skills through exercises that preserve and even expand your cognitive abilities.

ADHD Evaluations

A comprehensive ADHD assessment gives you or your child understanding of behaviors common in ADHD and documentation of your child’s needs, helping to answer questions about the challenges you or your child have experienced, all from an expert who will provide active support in planning your next steps.

Additional Services

Dr. Watson can work with clients to communicate evaluation findings and intervention recommendations to other professionals, including doctors, therapists, teachers, school staff, and more.

Frequently Asked Questions About Neuropsychological Services

  • You don’t need to know ahead of time. During the intake appointment, Dr. Watson will review your concerns, history, and any previous documentation to determine which type of evaluation (ADHD, neuropsychological, or another approach) will provide the clearest answers.

Many families and adults come in unsure of what they need; the intake is designed to point you in the right direction with expert guidance.

  • Garden City Neuropsychology provides evaluations for children, teens, and adults ages 6 and up.

Intervention therapy services are offered to teens and adults.

  • The full evaluation process has three stages. Your intake appointment typically lasts about 90 minutes and can be completed in person or via telehealth. The evaluation sessions take place in person over one or two days, with each day lasting between 3–6 hours, depending on your needs. About two weeks later, Dr. Watson will meet with you for a dedicated meeting to discuss the full evaluation results and recommendations, during which he walks you through the findings, answers every question, and outlines next steps. You will also be provided a copy of the written report.

  • After your evaluation, Dr. Watson provides a thorough written report with clear findings, diagnoses (if applicable), and personalized recommendations. He reviews everything with you step-by-step during your appointment to review the findings, ensuring you understand the results and what to do next.

For clients who need continued support, Garden City Neuropsychology also offers intervention therapies to help build skills, strengthen daily functioning, and support long-term progress. Dr. Watson can also coordinate with schools, physicians, or therapists as needed to help implement your recommendations.

Many families reach back out as new questions come up—school transitions, updated accommodations, changing goals, or next steps—and enjoy working with the same provider as their needs evolve.

  • A psychologist is trained to evaluate and treat emotional, behavioral, and mental health concerns.

A clinical neuropsychologist has all of that training plus advanced, specialized expertise in how the brain affects thinking, learning, memory, behavior, and daily functioning.

Neuropsychologists use detailed, scientifically validated tests to understand how different areas of the brain are working. This allows them to identify patterns of strengths and weaknesses, diagnose neurological and neurodevelopmental conditions, and create targeted recommendations for support, treatment, and accommodations.

“I brought my 17-year-old son to meet with Dr. Watson. The appointment was on time and well prepared. He was kind and patient, took notes during the meeting, and asked thoughtful questions to really understand what was going on. He promptly recommended a treatment plan, and my son was very happy with him.”
